So today, in a separate conversation with two persons, one said
"shebi u be pastor"
and the other said
"Seriously, Actually noticed you've been posting Bible passages these days, you don born again?".
I didn't think much of the former, but i did engage the latter in a lengthy conversation because he went on to say
"I really wish I can be serious like you too, just that all these worldly things won't let me be"
And to the glory of God, the conversation was fruitful. Which actually is the testimony of this post.
Later in the day thinking about the former and wondering why people have settled for the notion that you are a pastor just because you share God's word, i realized it is because we are failing as believers. Believers have abandoned their duties as propagators of the gospel. We have left it all to the Ministry gifts to do the work of Christ. Little wonder anyone sharing the word today is perceived to be a pastor. And this is cheifly due to negligence especially among the youth. Mocking the unbelievers instead of preaching the Love of God to them, Criticising the babies in christ instead of helping them grow. Knowingly and Unknowingly, we have impressed this "holier than thou attitude" on both believers and unbelievers. It's me and my Jesus, NO, it should be the world and our Jesus!!
As a beliver, wherever you find yourself, know you've been put there as an influence for the kingdom. Invite that brother to church, pray with that sister, share with your neighbors, teach your friends. You are a kingdom influence in your hostel, in your school, in your workplace, in your football team, in your marketplace, on whatsapp, bbm, snapchat, instagram, and everywhere you find yourself.
“How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!”
Romans 10:14-15 KJV
“And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach,”
Mark 3:14 KJV
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,”
Matthew 28:19 NIV
It is our duty!!
